Curriculum

The school's curriculum is based on the educational standards adopted by the State of Ohio.Student achievement of basic academic skills will be measured by their performance on the Ohio Graduation Test, plus a comprehensive assessment program that includes:

  • Teacher-developed tests, including written and oral tests and quizzes
  • Continuous assessments found in Apex Learning - the school's on-line curriculum
  • Placement tests that provide teachers with informaiton useful in developing instructional strategies that best meet the needs of students
  • Additional tests, such as vocational interest tests, learning style inventories, and climate surveys may also be used.

The school provides instruction in the four major academic disciplines- English, Math, Science and Social Studies. In addition, Career Discovery program allows students to explore vocational and educational opportunities that will be available to them following graduation from high school. A Health and Physical Education program is also available.

The school recently developed a Transition Program for students who have not been in school for a period of time, have family responsibilities that makes attending a full day of school impossible, or have other personal issues that make placement in the Transition program appropriate. Students in this program take the same classes as student in the school's regular program, but in a more concentrated form. Parents interested in this program should contact the school for an interview. Both the student and parent/guardian must attend the interview.
